Text message terms
Why your dealership texts you a code, what else it will send, and how to stop. Plain answers first, then the terms in full.
The short version
When you open your deal, the dealership needs to know it is really you and not someone who guessed your email address. So it sends a six-digit code to the mobile number you gave the store, and you type that code in. That is the whole reason. The code is good for ten minutes and it is only ever used to let you in.
Nobody at the dealership will ever phone you and ask you to read that code out. If someone does, hang up.
Who the messages come from
Zeigler Hoffman Estates I LLC, the dealership you are buying from, sends them. They are sent on its behalf by DocsToDrive DealReady OS, the software the store uses to put your paperwork together, and delivered through Twilio. They come from the store’s own number, and they are about your purchase — nothing else.
What you will actually receive
| When | What it says | How often |
|---|---|---|
| You sign in to see your deal | A six-digit code, good for ten minutes. | Once each time you sign in. |
| The store sends you your deal for the first time | A one-time access code so you can open your own paperwork. | Usually once per purchase. |
| The store needs a photo of a document | A link that opens your phone camera for one document, and expires. | Only when a document is still needed. A few times per purchase at most. |
| Your paperwork is still short something | A short list of what is missing, and the same kind of link. | Only when something is outstanding, and only if someone at the store sends it. |
Message frequency varies, because it follows your deal rather than a schedule. Most buyers get a handful of messages over a few days and then nothing. Message and data rates may apply — that is between you and your mobile carrier, and neither Zeigler Hoffman Estates I LLC nor DocsToDrive charges you for a text.
You did not sign up for marketing
These are transactional messages about your own deal. There is no marketing list, no newsletter and no promotional texting in this software at all, so there is nothing to unsubscribe from. Giving the store your mobile number to run your purchase is not an opt-in to advertising.
No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. All the above categories exclude text messaging originator opt-in data and consent; this information will not be shared with any third parties.
How to stop them, and how to get help
Reply STOP to any message from the store’s number and the texts stop. Reply HELP for help. Stopping the texts does not cancel or change anything about your purchase — you can still sign in with the code sent to your email address, or ask your salesperson to walk you through it in the store. If you later want the texts back, reply START.
The quickest help is your salesperson at Zeigler Hoffman Estates I LLC, because they can see your deal. For a question about the messaging itself, write to support@docstodrive.com, which reaches the team that runs the software for the dealership.
Carriers are not liable for any delayed or undelivered messages. A text can be late or never arrive for reasons no one here controls. If a code does not show up, ask for another one, or ask the store to email it instead.
What happens to your number
Your mobile number is stored with your deal so Zeigler Hoffman Estates I LLC can reach you about it, and it is handed to Twilio only in order to deliver a message to you. It is not sold or rented to anyone, and your agreement to be texted stays with the dealership and the software. The privacy notice sets out everything the software holds about you, where it is kept, and who can see it.
